Hikes for Seniors: Spring Awakening

Natural History - Seniors

Easy Hike. Spring forward and join us for a leisurely walk at Carolyn Holmberg Preserve where we will look for signs of spring’s return. Join volunteer naturalists in exploring what makes spring the great awakening that it is.

Minimum Participants: 5
Maximum Participants: 20

I have lived in Boulder County for 42 years, coming here from Pittsburgh, PA for my first job out of college and never leaving! I have always felt most at home in nature. Hiking gives me a chance to slow down, explore, and continually learn from the world around me. What I love most about being a naturalist is sharing that sense of wonder with others —helping people notice the details, understand the stories behind what they see, and develop their own connection to the natural world.

My Dad instilled the love of nature in me since I was born. He would quiz us on geology, plants and animals as we went on road trips to National Parks and camping by lakes in Washington state. I carried those experiences into my adult life with my kids and when I retired I became more involved in citizen science and advocating for natural areas and completed the Oregon Master Naturalist program. When I moved to Colorado a few years ago BCOS was a natural fit for those endeavors.
