Learn about weed management on Boulder County Parks & Open Space properties. The program will start with a brief introduction, then we’ll get into vans and drive to local open space properties to learn about the variety of weed management tools the county uses, including mechanical controls (mowing, hand pulling, fire), biological controls (bugs), herbicides, grazing, and revegetation. You’ll hear about the challenges of cheatgrass control, the county’s research and monitoring programs, and the pros and cons of each management tool. You may even get to see some rare and unusual plants! This program is geared for people 12 years old and up. Be prepared to hike approximately a half mile on uneven terrain.
