Natural History - All Ages Welcome
Ever wonder what lies beyond our solar system? Or how far we can see when we look deep into the night sky? Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists for an evening of exploration that begins close to home and extends to the origins of the universe. Start with a look at the objects found in our own solar system, then stretch outward to the stars and structures of the Milky Way. Then we’ll travel even farther, discovering what “deep sky” is and how these distant sights help us understand where the universe came from. Along the way, we’ll introduce the Big Bang in simple, engaging terms and share how scientists study the early universe today. Presentations will be at the picnic shelter, followed by stargazing in the parking area. The Longmont Astronomical Society provides telescopes. Bring a chair or blanket, a light jacket, and a red flashlight, and get ready to enjoy a night under the stars!
