In 2008, 40 acres of small patch cuts were implemented in the lodgepole forests south of Nederland to address forest health and fire issues in the area. Over the last 13 years, these areas have seen a flush of new aspen growth as well as abundant lodgepole pine regeneration. To promote and enhance these aspen stands, volunteers will use loppers and handsaws to remove competing lodgepole pines. WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: -Water bottle (with water) -Sturdy, closed toe shoes (no sandals) -Bag/backpack (for carrying clothing, food, water, etc..) -Sunscreen -Snacks -Work gloves (if you have a pair you like) -Layers of clothes for changing weather -Rain gear -LONG pants and shirt sleeves recommended WHAT WE WILL BRING -Extra water -Work gloves -All tools needed for project -First Aid kit
