Play on the Walker Ranch Vintage Base Ball Team

 10/04/2026  |  12:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Walker Ranch Homestead  |  Registration Required

Cultural History - Minimum age 14 with accompanying adult

Grab your friends or coworkers to compete in some old fashioned athletic fun! Play in our vintage base ball (it was two words back then) game at Walker Ranch Homestead. The game will be played using 19th-century rules. “Base ball” was two words back then. Those watching the game are cranks, rooters, or bugs; players are ballists. A hurler pitches the ball to the behind, or catcher. No gloves or helmets are worn, and a cloth ball and cloth bases are used. Listen for the players’ nicknames and a bell ringing as players reach home plate! Players ages 14 and older welcome.

Minimum Participants: 1
Maximum Participants: 22

Hi, I'm Richard. I'm Longmont born-and-raised and live here today. I have a history degree from CU. I am a business writer and work remotely, which affords me the ability to be in nature a lot. I bird, I forage, I make cider, I hike. I have chickens. I've raised horses. I love history.

I am an education and outreach seasonal with Boulder County. This is my second season with Boulder County. I love getting to help with all sorts of educational programs and interact with amazing members of the public and county. In my spare time, I enjoy coaching youth softball, running, biking, hiking, and being outdoors in general.
