List A weeds are considered "ecological game changers" of the non-native plant invaders! They are mandated for eradication across the entire state of Colorado, and we could use your help to keep this particular bad-actor at bay! Mediterranean sage is a tumble weed of the mint family (Lamiaceae) that used to completely dominate the grasslands that span from north Boulder to Lyons. Following some intensive eradication efforts in the 1990s and early 2000s, we were able to reintroduce a lot of diversity that was lost to this vigorous weed. Now, we are in maintenance mode and are traversing the landscape looking for individuals of this plant so we can dig them up and prevent them from going to seed and getting a foothold back in the landscape. This is where YOU come in! Join Boulder County Weed Specialists as we "grid" the land looking for and digging up this plant! This requires walking off trail in slightly uneven terrain, while carrying and using a shovel. Shovels will be provided. Sign up today to learn more about invasive weeds, their impact on the landscape, and to help us stave off this List A Species!
