Hikes for Seniors: Prairie Dogs - A Keystone Species

Natural History - Seniors

Near Boulder. Location provided when registered. Easy Hike. Their statue-like positions atop their mounds and high-pitch squeaks are iconic. Prairie dogs are an integral species of our plains ecosystems, and it is reflected in how they punctuate the prairies of Colorado. Their burrows provide homes for other animals, and they are prey to some our majestic predators. Volunteer naturalists will lead you on a short hike around a prairie dog colony to get a closer look at this keystone species.
