Earth Day Trail Work

Volunteer Work Projects - Minimum age 12 with accompanying adult

Celebrate Earth Day with Boulder County Parks & Open Space. Let's do some trail work! We're hosting our first public trail work event for the year at our most popular project site — Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain. Our mission for the day is to reduce the amount of mud on the trail. We will be hiking up directly from the parking lot and working along the Little Thompson Overlook Trail. Join us as we dig drainages and cut back overgrown brush. With your help we hope to reduce the number of days trails are closed due to excessive mud. Lunch will be provided. Difficulty: Moderate. Project will involve hiking up to 2 miles over uneven terrain as we work "leap frog style" along the trail. You will have to carry all of your personal gear (in a backpack) and a hand tool with you for the duration of this project. Trail work is a workout — expect to get covered in dirt, sweat a bit, and have a good time. Full project details will be sent out 3 days before the event, but please reach out with any questions. Looking forward to working with you!
