POSAC Site Visit: Prescott Wetland Restoration and Sherwood Creek

Parks & Open Space Advisory Committee (POSAC) members and attendees will visit the Prescott Wetland restoration area, above Peaceful Valley, which was completed in October of 2024. This will be followed by a second site visit to see the restoration work on Sherwood Creek at the Conger Mine site, west of Mud Lake. Attendees will travel in vans, starting at 8:30 a.m., from the Ron Stewart Parks & Open Space building, 5201 St Vrain Rd, Longmont. The full tour will take approximately 5-6 hours. Space is limited and registration is required. Attendees will hike approximately 3 miles round trip on uneven and sometimes steep terrain. An Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) will be available to carry a very limited number of people who cannot do the full hike, but some hiking and other physical activity will still be necessary. Attendees have the option to attend just the Sherwood Creek portion of the tour, meeting the group at the Mud Lake picnic shelter between 12-12:30 p.m. Attendees should bring drinking water, comfortable hiking shoes, snacks, and clothing for inclement weather. Lunch will be provided by St. Vrain Market: see menu at stvrainmarket.com/lunch. Attendees are may also bring their own lunch. This site visit will not provide an opportunity for formal public comment. This tour is not related to a current decision that will come before POSAC.
