The foothills are a dynamic ecosystem that transforms in the winter. As the snow falls and the temperatures drop, plants and animals must adapt to survive in the harsh conditions. Join us for a moderate 1.5-mile hike as we explore this ecosystem.

VN Class of 2009 I find nature to be endlessly fascinating and love sharing my knowledge and leading interpretive hikes where I hope to inspire others in appreciation and stewardship of our precious wildlife and wild lands. In 1975 I moved to Boulder and learned about the flora and fauna of the area and hiked the Flatirons to the Divide. During 20 years on Kauai, HI , I volunteered at a Wildlife Refuge and Botanic Garden. Back to my beloved Colorado and sharing my passion for nature again!

I love the Boulder County properties and helping lead all sorts of programs, including winter raptor driving tours, wildflower walks, sunset walks and the Living Map program for school children. My focus for he last five years has been birding across the state of Colorado. I have birded in 44 of the 64 counties in the state of Colorado, focusing on the Front Range and eastern prairie. I hope to bird the West slope of Colorado in the next few years.
