Join us for a morning of invasive tree removal at Lagerman Agricultural Preserve! This shrub tree, native to Eurasia and North Africa, was originally introduced to Colorado as a windbreak and erosion control species along riverbanks and railroads. Tamarix, otherwise known as saltcedar, spreads rapidly because it is highly adaptable to disturbed, saline, and drought-prone soils, and tolerates poor conditions. The majority of these trees are saplings and can easily be pulled out of the ground, but for those who would like to go after the slightly larger trees, loppers and handsaws will be provided, as well as gloves.
