Natural History - All Ages Welcome

Join volunteer naturalists and astronomers from the Longmont Astronomical Society for a series of summer night astronomy programs. Together we'll learn about the night skies and view the celestial bodies residing in our galaxy and beyond. Let’s talk about our amazing moon! We’ll discuss its craters and mountains, and human interactions. We'll also discuss its interactions with the sun and earth, the interactions that create solar and lunar eclipses. The presentation is at the picnic shelter. Bring a chair or blanket, a light jacket, and a red flashlight, and get ready to enjoy a night out with the family. The presentation is at the picnic shelter. It is followed by stargazing in the parking area. Telescopes are provided by the Longmont Astronomical Society.

Tim L - Volunteer Naturalist

I grew up in northwestern Ohio. My favorite place was always outside. I have an undergraduate degree in Biology. Living in Colorado has been a great gift, and I need to give back to the community in appreciation for all I have received and experienced. Becoming a volunteer naturalist is the perfect way to meet that need. It combines my curiosity about the natural world, my love for the outdoors, and the opportunity to provide service to those who also call Boulder County home.
