A world of crafty little crawlers and miniature flashy flyers lives in Boulder County, a big stage where small-scale romance, rivalry, and adventure, unfold. Enter a hidden realm where furry moths and beautiful beetles play out tales of skullduggery and devotion. Learn about some of our most interesting insects through photo stories and activities. Come and discover the secrets and drama of our small but mighty insect wildlife!

I'm a retired land planner, nurse and attorney. I have been interested in the natural world since elementary school, with a particular focus on native plants and ecosystems.
Kathy K - Volunteer Naturalist
I grew up on a farm, working the fields and managing livestock. In college, I was introduced to the Colorado mountains by my husband, and we spent many years camping, hiking, backpacking, and exploring Colorado with friends, neighbors, and family. He encouraged my love of birds, flowers, trees, and native edibles, and I learned that I shared his passion for geology and paleontology. I spent 35 years in engineering and management, including work for the NSF, and remain an avid naturalist.
