Volunteer Work Projects

Hello Runners, Happy Spring! Let's do some trail work. This year we're trying to spice it up a bit with a new project concept- Stop, Drop & Lop! (or Lop It Like It’s Hot/Lop the Day Away/etc.) Using loppers and handsaws, we will split into teams and give the trails their spring "haircut" to provided specifications. *A rock work option may be available for those interested in learning some dry stone mason skills. No guarantees, but it's in the works.... LOCATION & PARKING We will meet in the parking lot of the Wapiti/Main Trailhead promptly at 11:00am. Look for a cluster of covered picnic tables- we will group up there. .A Google Maps pin can be found here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/SbMX9GcPARWWnGP47 From there we will load into 12-passenger vans to shuttle closer to the project site. We will be hiking several miles and working "leap frog style" and may hike up to 6 miles. You will need to carry your backpack with your personal gear with you, as well as a hand tool. What to bring: -Water bottle and water -Sturdy shoes/boots -Backpack (for carrying clothes/water) -Pants are highly recommended -Sunscreen -Layers of clothes -Rain gear -Lunch/snacks There are only pit toilets available at the trailhead, so be prepared to use the woods if you need to go once the project begins. Please note that there is almost no cell phone service. You may not have service at all in the parking lot and for the duration of the project. Have any questions? Feel free to reach out to Jo Daloisio (Volunteer Coordinator) at [email protected] Looking forward to working with you!
