Deep Time Walk

  Pella Crossing  |  Registration Required

Natural History - All Ages Welcome

Join volunteer naturalists for a “journey” where one walks the age of the Earth, approximately 4.6 billion years, in 3 miles. In this “Deep Time Walk," each step corresponds to 1 million years. Therefore, all human history happens in the last few inches! During this walk, a journey through the Earth's geological time, we describe some of the most critical moments of our planet's history and how life evolved from simple organisms to all the species we know today.

Minimum Participants: 5

John R - Volunteer Naturalist

Hi, I'm John, a nature lover, activist, and lifelong learner. I'm passionate about learning, restoring, and protecting the natural world, and I love to share this passion with others. I’ve had a wide and varied career history, most recently as an Education & Outreach Seasonal for Boulder County and as an Urban Ranger for the City of Boulder. Now in “retirement” I enjoy volunteering to continue to serve, connect, and celebrate the beauty and diversity of life with others.

I am filled with awe and wonder when in the out of doors. Nature brings out the best in me – reverence, curiosity, wonder and humility. I love to hike, camp, flyfish, ski, and sometimes do nothing, but take it all in. My greatest joy is doing these activities with family and friends as it deepens the connection. As a VN I desire to instill a sense of wonder and caring through education to others in the hope that they are inspired through nature and may also be moved to conserve it.
