Natural History - All Ages Welcome

Winter is a time of magic and wonder for us, but it's also a time of great change and adaptation for plants and animals. How do all the plants and animals survive? Join us for an easy, 3-mile hike around the lake as we explore the complex relationships among different species and the elements they live in during the winter. Discover how winter ecology plays a vital role in the life cycle of many animals and plants that call Boulder County home.

VN Class of 2009 I find nature to be endlessly fascinating and love sharing my knowledge and leading interpretive hikes where I hope to inspire others in appreciation and stewardship of our precious wildlife and wild lands. In 1975 I moved to Boulder and learned about the flora and fauna of the area and hiked the Flatirons to the Divide. During 20 years on Kauai, HI , I volunteered at a Wildlife Refuge and Botanic Garden. Back to my beloved Colorado and sharing my passion for nature again!

I'm a New Jersey native. I came out to Colorado for graduate school and fell in love with the mountains. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and have camped, hiked, and backpacked. I am especially drawn to wildlife. I am fascinated with animal behavior in their natural environment and love to watch them in action. I look forward to sharing my passion and knowledge with others. Also, I hope to help them appreciate the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness of animal and plant life.
