Join us on the hillside for a morning of pulling myrtle spurge! This beautiful, yet highly invasive plant was originally introduced from Europe as an ornamental species. This is a List A noxious weed in the state of Colorado, meaning that we are required by law to treat and eradicate this species, and for good reason. Myrtle spurge is an impressive competitor for resources, taking them from our native species, and loves growing in Colorado soils with lots of sunlight. This plant is also highly toxic, due to the caustic sap it contains, causing blistering if it comes in contact with skin. Due to the toxicity of this plant, long sleeved shirts, long pants, gloves, eye protection, and closed-toed shoes are required for this activity. Gloves and eye protection will be provided by us. Meeting location is at the lower Hall Ranch parking lot. We will then drive over in a county van.
