 |  Registration Required

Natural History - All Ages Welcome

Join BCNA, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, and the Boulder-Denver bioblitz team in a “collaboration meets friendly competition” challenge to see which city can document the most species during the 2023 international bioblitz challenge. We will review using iNaturalist, work with others to document every species we can find, and share our findings with the group. It’s always surprising to learn how many different species we walk by unknowingly every day!

Maximum Participants: 25

Ann C - Volunteer Naturalist

I grew up in a small village in Cumbria, with the English countryside as my wild playground. I accidentally emigrated in 1965, and since then have been catching up on all aspects of Colorado’s wildlife. (My newest passion is moths. I have a B.Sc. in physiology from University of London, which I used only for five years of medical research. After a time-out for mothering, I turned to writing—twelve books so far—as a way to avoid working nine to five. I began volunteering for BCPOS in 1978,

I grew up on a farm, working the fields and managing livestock. In college, I was introduced to the Colorado mountains by my husband, and we spent many years camping, hiking, backpacking, and exploring Colorado with friends, neighbors, and family. He encouraged my love of birds, flowers, trees, and native edibles, and I learned that I shared his passion for geology and paleontology. I spent 35 years in engineering and management, including work for the NSF, and remain an avid naturalist.
