Volunteer Work Projects - Minimum age 14 with accompanying adult

Celebrate National Public Lands Day by helping to improve one of Boulder County's most scenic trails! Mud Lake combines the beauty of a high-altitude reflective pool with a nearby forest. In collaboration with Boulder County Open Space staff, volunteers will work on a trail construction project to to improve a section of trail around Mud Lake to meet the US Forest Service's Trail Accessibility Guidelines. By the end of the project, the goal is to have a completed section of wheelchair-accessible trail. This project will help to create a more inclusive trail experience and improve recreational opportunities for trail users of all abilities! Join fellow community members in getting a good workout, learning about the rich history of Mud Lake, and creating a legacy. The scope of work for this project includes building retaining structures, moving trail material, resurfacing the trail, and cutting trail tread. A variety of hand tools will be used. All necessary tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. Project details will be shared with registered volunteers within 1 week of the project. An online waiver must be filled out for every participant. Please use the link to the online waiver provided after registration to sign prior to the volunteer work project. Thank you in advance for helping to improve Boulder County Trails!
