Walker Ranch Homestead

Description:

Share the history of Boulder County at events hosted by Parks & Open Space. Visitors love to talk to volunteers and learn about what life was like on a working ranch in the late 1800s.

Volunteers dress in period costume to demonstrate daily chores of a working western ranch for school programs and special events at the Walker Ranch Homestead. Training and costumes are provided.

Some of the activities you could demonstrate are cooking on a wood-burning stove, churning butter, making roof shingles, assisting the blacksmith, doing laundry the old-fashioned way, and historical games.

Volunteer Job Description:

Volunteer a minimum of three special events or field trip programs per year. Must be at least 9 years old.
